DC’s BIRDS OF PREY Movie Gets Release Date

Warner Bros announced the release date for  Birds of Prey/Gotham City Sirens movie of February 7, 2020.  The movie stars Margot Robbie, returning as her Suicide Squad character, Harley Quinn. Filming will begin in early 2019.

The Birds of Prey is just one of a few DC projects in the works at Warner Bros.  According to Entertainment Weekly, Christina Hodson wrote the script that centers on a team of female superheroes and anti-heroes that fight crime. Cathy Yan is set to direct the film.  The roles of Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain and Renee Montoya are currently in casting. Hopefully we’ll get an official title soon.

Chuck Dixon created the DC comic book series Birds of Prey in 1995.  The group originates from a partnership between Oracle aka Barbara Gordon and Black Canary a.k.a. Dinah Laurel Lance. Membership varies from time to time. Some of the more familiar names are Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Hawkgirl.

Other DC movies in the works are Aquaman set for release on December 21,2018, Shazam! on April 5, 2019,  Wonder Woman 1984 on November 1, 2019 and Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie out on October 4, 2019.
