We’ve heard hints and whispers of this but it’s finally here. DC revealed their streaming service name along with four shows today and I’m pretty excited. Announced by the comic giant last year, we’ve been anticipating any further news on when we’d be seeing it and what would be happening. And we finally have some answers!
DC Universe will be the new streaming service catering to fans of all things by the company. This “first-of-its kind, immersive digital experience” is set to be a dream for fans and I have high hopes that they’ll deliver. And they’re off to a great start by starting 4 programs set to air on the service. A live-action Titans, which we’ve heard casting news about for the past year or so. Absolute fan favorite Young Justice makes its glorious revival with Young Justice: Outsiders. Harley Quinn will also be getting her own animated series. But the brand new news is that they’re creating a Swamp Thing live action show!

Yes, we’re getting Swamp Thing! The one-hour drama series will be written by Mark Verheiden (Daredevil, Ash vs. Evil Dead) and Gary Dauberman (It). Sadly we have no casting news but the show is aiming to be released in 2019. And a reminder that DC is not fooling around with their programming, they’ve got the big guns behind the scenes on Titans. Greg Berlanti, who brought Arrow and The Flash to life on the small screen, will be writing and producing the series. Akiva Goldsman, will be joining Berlanti.
The unfortunate side to all of this is that we still have no official release date yet. We have to assume it’s soon, given the announcement. DC promises that there will be much more to come so we will be keeping our eyes peeled for more information as this develops. Hopefully we’ll also learn of a monthly cost soon enough, too.
