The content is really cranking it up to the next level here! Announced today, we learned that the DC streaming service will be bringing a Doom Patrol live action series. Not only will the misfit teens be coming, but they have an excellent production team behind it! This news comes soon after learning of live-action Swamp Thing series. So what do we know about the series so far? Well, quite a bit, considering!

The one-hour long drama series will have 13 episodes and go into production this year for a 2019 debut! DC TV’s MVP Greg Berlanti has signed on to the series as a writer and executive producer. He’s getting one step closer to completely dominating the entire live-action DC TV universe. And one of the more exciting aspects of the series is that it’s tied into the other teen live-action show, Titans! Here’s the official description of the show.

DOOM PATROL is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

So what kind of events in Titans effects them so much that the Doom Patrol has to step in? Sadly we’ll have to wait till next year to see. But it’s really fascinating that the shows will be tied together right off the bat. It seems that DC is ready to compete in the teen-superhero market and bring two different shows as well against Marvel‘s Runaways and Cloak & Dagger. It’s exciting to think what we’ll see next.
