First introduced in Robin, Year One #3, Shrike is a martial artist who operates a school for assassins called The Vengeance Academy. He is a master of all martial arts and a member of the League of Assassins under Ra’s Al Ghul who spends his days teaching children how to kill people.
Though he eventually died on a mission to kill Two-Face, his legacy was strong enough to live on in the form of one of his students, Boone, a childhood friend to Dick Grayson, the original Robin who grew up to be Nightwing. He has gone on to become one of the world’s foremost assassins, preferring to use a number of bladed weapons.
So why are we looking at him today?
As a member of the League of Assassins and a constant pain in Robin’s side, he feels like an ideal character to end up on the CW’s hit series, Arrow. Especially with the new evil found in Damien Darhk, it’s possible that Oliver and his team might find an assassin school for children at some point.
