David Fincher’s MANK Goes Old Hollywood in Official Trailer

Still of Amanda Seyfried in Mank.

Bring on the glitz and glamor! Netflix released an official trailer Thursday for David Fincher‘s Mank along with a premiere date. The trailer is an homage to Old Hollywood in every sense of the term.

Mank is just one of a slew of awards season contenders. The film focuses on real-life screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he scrambles to develop the Orson Welles classic Citizen Kane. Of course, we know Citizen Kane went on to successfully snag an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

The trailer is solely in black and white, and even boasts a vintage preview disclaimer. There are a bevy of voices discussing Mankiewicz (Gary Oldman) as he struggles with alcoholism and breathing life into Citizen Kane. There are shots of Amanda Seyfried‘s Marion Davies while she has a dalliance with Mankiewicz. You can also hear her shout “Nobody, but nobody, makes a monkey out of William Randolph Hearst!” toward the end of the trailer.

Mank is truly a family affair. Fincher serves as director and his late father Jack Fincher penned the script. The project spent quite a few years in development purgatory prior to filming.

Now, I’m a simple gal. I see Gary Oldman, I watch Gary Oldman. The cast is superb and I’ve got a bleeding heart for all things Old Hollywood. I’m more than ready to see Mank on my screen.

You can check out the trailer below. Mank stars Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lily CollinsTom BurkeTom Pelphrey, and Charles Dance. It will hit theaters in November followed by a December 4 release on Netflix.
