After the very popular book and the follow-up film starring Brad Pitt, World War Z 2 is likely to come to theaters.  Variety reported today that David Fincher is ‘close to a deal to direct’ the film.  That’s all kinds of good news for zombie lovers and cinefiles alike.

Word on the street is that Brad Pitt’s been courting Fincher for the sequel for awhile.  The project stalled when Paramount “took the film off the calendar to consider whether or not to move forward”.  But, with a new CEO (Jim Gianopulos) in place, it’s been revived, Fincher is on board and the green light looks imminent.

Brad Pitt and David Fincher might be one of the best actor/director teams in movie history.  They gave us Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.  This would be their fourth film together and Variety says that Fincher hass “always been open to listening to Pitt when the actor reaches out.”  Me too.  Brad, I’m always available for you, if you ever want to call.

If World War Z 2 does continue to go forward, it’s expected to start production in the beginning of 2018.
