Everyone’s favorite black and red Sith apprentice, Darth Maul, is getting his own limited comic book series from Marvel.
Written by Cullen Bunn, with art by Luke Ross, the series will follow the character before his appearance in The Phantom Menace. Well, it will give us one story out of a host of stories. Taking place during his training under Darth Sidious (Senator Palpatine), the comic will follow Maul as he hunts down a young Jedi Padawan, Eldra Kaitis, who has fallen into the hands of a crime lord. Maul takes this opportunity to test his skills against a Jedi and maybe turn someone to the Dark Side.
While we have an basic outline of Maul’s life before his movie appearance, we don’t have details. The five issue mini series will fill in some of those details during its run. It also has the added benefit of hopefully giving us more Palpatine, who later becomes The Emperor.
Issue one of Darth Maul hits stores in February 2017.
