Remember the really fun video from San Diego Comic Con that answered the question of where was Thor during Captain America: Civil War. Apparently, he was in Australia, laying low, living in an apartment with an everyday office drone named Darryl Jacobson.
Well, IGN caught up with Thor: Ragnarok director, Taika Waititi, to talk to him about where Thor was at in his life when he started rooming with Darryl and what else we might be able to expect from the God of Thunder’s Australian roommate.
“Thor briefly rented a room in a flat in Australia after the Ultron debacle, just to get some downtime – to get away from The Avengers, to get away from America. So he had a little downtime in Australia. And he met this guy Darryl and they shared a flat together. So that’s Darryl.”
So that’s where he’s at when he comes across Darryl down in Australia, but there’s been a large outpouring of support and newfound love for the character, so is it entirely possible that we’ll see Darryl in Thor: Ragnarok or anything else?
Waititi says, “I think you probably could see him again. There may be other little pieces of that thing that everyone saw that may just be a small part of a bigger thing.”
In other words, if we’re reading this correctly, what we all thought was footage shot just for a short film joke may actually be scenes shot for the film. What we thought was a gag for SDCC may actually be a sincere part of the upcoming film.
