What to Know About Daggerheart RPG

So, what is Daggerheart? It is an upcoming fantasy RPG that allows friends to come together to tell incredible stories that will shape your words through rich, long-term campaign play. This isn’t just a new setting, but an entire new system to enjoy. We are excited to check out how players can bring their homebrew stories to life using the system and if we will get any premade campaigns to dive into.

Two of the major selling points we have seen so far with Daggerheart is their hope or fear system and character creation. When the roleplaying is done, and game mechanics control our fates, it’s time to pray to the 12-sided dice. Players can either succeed or fail checks with hope or fear. The team explains that the duality between the forces of hope and fear in every hero drives the character-focused narratives forward and gives the RPG its unique feel.

And how do we build those characters? Not with dice – but with cards. The system makes it easy for anyone looking to pick up and play. Start with Ancestry and Community cards to build your character’s backgrounds and capabilities. As the journey continues and characters continue to grow, Subclass and Dominion cards will grant plenty of exciting abilities to choose from. While we can’t say the possibilities are endless, the idea that two people can play similar characters but still be different makes us extremely happy. Variety in character creation is always crucial.

So, what’s next? Darrington Press is asking everyone and anyone over the age of 18 to take part in the open beta beginning on March 12, 2024. The project has been quietly in the works over the last year, and now it’s time to show it off a bit. They do warn that it is nowhere near finished or polished, but that is where the players come in. Using player feedback, the team plans to continue building and rebuilding to bring us a truly epic experience in 2025. They aren’t just looking for good feedback; they want everything to continue to grow.
