Several pictures taken on the set of Daredevil: Born Again have afforded a first look at Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, aka the Punisher. But now, he’s making his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Bernthal Reprises the Punisher in Born Again
In March 2023, it was announced that Bernthal would be reprising the role for the upcoming Disney+ streaming series. The Bernthal variant of Marvel’s most morally ambiguous vigilante originated in Netflix’s Daredevil season 2 (not in the spinoff Punisher, as incorrectly reported by Variety). Now we have multiple images of a blood-spattered Castle beside Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox). Both wear their full superhero regalia.

Bernthal isn’t the only actor who will return with Born Again. According to the Variety article that revealed the pictures, multiple additional actors are reprising their respective roles. This includes Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter, AKA Bullseye, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page.
Meanwhile, Cox returned to the role of Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home before guest starring in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 1 and Echo season 1. In addition, Born Again will also feature Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). Contrary to Variety‘s claim that Born Again will “officially bring… [the character] into the proper Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Fisk appeared in Hawkeye season 1 before playing a significant role in Echo‘s first season.

Obviously, these exciting images leave one lingering question on everyone’s minds: where’s Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter)? Sure, it may be unreasonable to expect every character from the Netflix Defenders shows to return. However, this super-powered private eye’s breakout role in Jessica Jones surely earned her a place on the shortlist.
