The cast of HBO Max’s Peacemaker keeps growing! Orange Is the New Black‘s Danielle Brooks will be joining The Suicide Squad spinoff, Deadline reports. Brooks is the latest addition to the series based on James Gunn‘s upcoming comic book flick. John Cena will star in the titular role of Peacemaker and Steve Agee is reprising his role of John Economos from the movie.

Now, the series delves into the origins of Peacemaker and his desire to attain peace at any cost. Brooks will portray Leota Adebayo in the show. Gunn wrote and executive produced all eight episodes of Peacemaker. Additionally, the writer/director will helm a handful of episodes.

But that’s not all! CinemaBlend also reports that Peacemaker has added a few more characters to its expanding roster. Robert Patrick, known for Perry Mason, will play Auggie Smith. Jennifer Holland will portray Emilia Harcourt, who she also plays in The Suicide Squad. Patriot‘s Chris Conrad will suit up for Vigilante, a DC comics hero.

Danielle Brooks is most known for Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, but she also made her award-winning Broadway debut in the revival of The Color PurpleRecently, she starred in The Day Shall Come opposite Anna Kendrick. She’s currently shooting The Mahalia Jackson Project in the lead role.

Brooks is also a talented musician. In 2019, she released an EP entitled Four. Her music was featured in the series finale of Orange Is the New Black

My humble opinion? Brooks is an immensely gifted performer and I’ve no doubt she’ll bring something wonderful to the Peacemaker table. I have all the faith in the world for this series, especially with Gunn manning the ship.
