There is good in the world. With all the unrest and awful stories that are we are experiencing lately, it’s important to be reminded that there are good people out there. That humanity is not lost and that a boy who loves Superman and has cancer gets a chance to meet his hero.

That’s exactly what happened according to The Dallas Morning News. Dallas police officer, Senior Cpl. Damon Cole, saw a picture online of Bryce Schottel, 7, dressed up as Superman. Young Bryce has a tumor in his stomach. He was diagnosed with lymphoma on February 28th and has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments ever since.

Cole is a part of Heroes, Cops and Kids;

Heroes, cops and kids is a community organization comprised of Dallas police officers and other community leaders created to be positive role models for the community and it’s kids.

On his own dime and transportation, he drove from Dallas, Tx and showed up in Illinois at Bryce’s doorstep dressed as Superman! I mean come on!

That’s what being in public service is about. Maybe officer Cole was out of his jurisdiction but he was serving his community. He recognized someone in need and played a huge part in showing love and compassion.

We could all do with a little more of that.
