D23 Expo 2022 unveiled an avalanche of announcements, trailers, sneak peeks and release dates this weekend. If you can’t keep track of what premieres when and who’s in that new thing — you’re not alone. While only a few Marvel projects released official trailers to the public, some news eeked out of each presentation (along with exclusive footage we plebs can’t watch).
So, I compiled a list of news you might’ve missed, organized by each Marvel property. I omitted Secret Invasion and Werewolf by Night as we have articles for those here and here.
Thank you, @DiscussingFilm and @Disney23, for live-tweeting the festivities. I couldn’t write this piece without the valuable info these accounts provided.
Read on, friends!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Director Ryan Coogler, who helmed Black Panther, revealed the team’s still in the editing process for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In addition, the sequel will hone in on the rest of the world attempting to snag Wakandan tech in the wake of T’Challa’s passing. D23 Expo attendees watched exclusive footage, including a fight sequence between M’Baku and Namor.
Kevin Fiege, Marvel’s president, claimed this flick is the biggest project the company has ever done.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever debuts in theaters on November 11, 2022.
Ironheart
During Ironheart‘s panel, Coogler, who serves as executive producer, revealed an exclusive teaser for the Disney Plus series. We also learned Anthony Ramos plays The Hood and that the show, starring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, will delve into the perpetual battle between magic and technology.
Ironheart is currently filming and is expected to arrive on Disney Plus in 2023.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Feige informed D23 Expo attendees that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will pose a direct link to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the closer to the MCU’s Phase 5. It makes sense, given Jonathan Majors’ involvement as Kang in both films.

Perhaps the news I’m most excited about that emerged from this panel is the return of Randall Park as Jimmy Woo, last seen in WandaVision. I have such a soft spot for that man.
As reported by @DiscussingFilm, fans were treated to an exclusive clip featuring Scott Lang executing a heist in the Quantum Realm for Kang. He won’t get his daughter Cassie back if he doesn’t comply. Talk about high stakes!
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania premieres in theaters on February 17, 2023.
Armor Wars
Don Cheadle was on hand at D23 Expo 2022 to discuss Secret Invasion and Armor Wars. He told fans that Armor Wars takes place right after Secret Invasion. Filming will commence next year, with the show’s release date in the air.

Fantastic Four
Unfortunately, Feige didn’t reveal the cast list as expected. All we know is Matt Shakman will direct, and the flick will debut on November 8, 2024.
Loki
Once again, D23 Expo attendees watched exclusive footage. This time, from Loki Season 2. In said footage, fans bore witness to more of Jonathan Majors as Kang, which is never a bad thing. We learned that Ke Huy Quan portrays a Time Variance Authority employee in Season 2.
Loki Season 2 is expected to arrive in the summer of 2023.
Daredevil: Born Again
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio took to the D23 Expo stage to chat about the highly anticipated series, Daredevil: Born Again. The show will begin filming in 2023, churning out a whopping 18 episodes. That’s quite a lot for a Disney Plus project. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to see Matt Murdock again, as he’ll return in a future episode of She-Hulk.
Daredevil: Born Again will debut in early 2024.

Captain America: New World Order
The panel kicked off with a reveal of the film’s new logo. We learned that not only will Tim Blake Nelson reprise his role as The Leader, but the incredible Carl Lumbly will return as Isaiah Bradley. His scenes in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier killed me.
Additionally, Danny Ramirez takes up the Falcon mantle in Captain America: New World Order, which was expected after his arc in The Falcon and the Winder Soldier. It’s still exciting all the same! Israeli actress Shira Haas joins the Marvel fray as superhero Sabra, whose alias in the comics is Ruth Bat-Seraph.
Director Julius Onah described the upcoming flick as a “paranoid thriller.” I love that Marvel’s leaning into thriller territory for its future projects.
Captain America: New World Order will hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
Thunderbolts
D23 Expo unveiled the official artwork for Thunderbolts, which will star Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes. Rounding out the main cast is David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
The whole cast, except Pugh, appeared at D23 Expo to pump up fans for the highly anticipated flick. Thunderbolts will begin filming next year.
Thunderbolts will take the theater circuit by storm on July 26, 2024.
The Marvels
Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau) and Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel) joined director Nia DaCosta onstage to introduce new footage of The Marvels to lucky D23 Expo audience members.

And, yes, before you ask: the beloved Goose will return for the film. @DiscussingFilm reports The Marvels will focus on our three heroines as they continuously trade places. Thus, they must join forces to eradicate the problem. If you recall, at the end of Ms. Marvel, Kamala transforms into Carol Danvers, revealing the film directly follows the series.
The Marvels arrives in theaters on July 28, 2023.
