From wolves to vampires, the CW’s The Lost Boys cast Tyler Posey formerly of MTV’s Teen Wolf . According to Deadline, Posey will be playing Michael, a role originally played by Jason Patric in the 1987 film directed by Joel Schumacher.

In addition to Posey, Kiele Sanchez, Medalion Rahimi, and Dakota Shapiro have also been cast in key roles.  Sanchez will play Michael’s mother Lucy. Shapiro will play the lead vampire David. And Rahimi is playing a character named Stella, a version of the character Star from the 1987 film.  Characters left to cast are Sam, Michael’s brother, and the Frog brothers.  There is a rumor floating around that the CW will change the Frog brothers to the Frog Sisters for this series, but we’ll see how that works out.

This television show is going to have similar story line as the film.  Lucy takes her boys to live in Santa Clara where the boys get mixed up in vampire activity.  Michael’s story is a little different though. He finds out he has a genetic marker that killed his father.  He is consoled by his friendship with Stella, a local girl who works on the boardwalk with a dangerous boyfriend David.

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will direct the pilot episode, written by Heather Mitchell.   Mitchell executive produces with Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, Mike Karz and Bill Bindley. Rebecca Franko produces along with Juliana Janes.

The CW’s The Lost Boys is currently in development.
