The CW’s The Lost Boys reboot has finalized their lead cast with the addition of Rio Mangini and Del Zamora. According to Deadline, Mangini will play Sam Emerson, brother to Tyler Posey‘s Michael Emerson. Zamora will play Frank Garcia, the boys grandfather who lives in Santa Clara. Kiele Sanchez rounds out the family as Lucy Emerson, Sam and Michael’s mother.
The series is based on the 1987 Joel Schumacher film The Lost Boys starring Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, and Jamie Gertz. Like the film, the Emerson family moves to Santa Clara to live with Lucy’s father. The series will start with the family arriving and making new friends. Michael encounters a local girl named Stella (Medalion Rahimi) who dangerous boyfriend David (Dakota Shapiro) turns out to be a vampire . And so the drama begins.
Also announced this past week is the casting of Sarah Hay as Molly, a vampire who challenges David’s leadership. And in a gender bending twist, Cheyenne Haynes and Haley Tju will play the Frog ‘Sisters’ Liza and Cassie. Like the Frog Brothers from the film, the sisters work in a local comic book store and befriend Sam.
Catherine Hardwicke will direct the pilot. The series is written by Heather Mitchell who also executive produces with Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, Mike Karz and Bill Bindley. Producers are Rebecca Franko and Juliana Janes.
The Lost Boys is currently in production for the CW Fall 2019 line-up.
