All good things must come to an end…I guess. The CW longest running series, Supernatural will end with season fifteen. Stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins made a 2-part emotional announcement via Ackles Instagram on Friday.
Eric Kripke created the show, produced by Warner Bros. TV. The series is the last from the former WB Network. The WB became the CW in a joint venture between WBTV and CBS TV Studios. The show is the longest-running sci-fi/genre series in the history of American broadcast television airing over 300 episodes in fourteen seasons.
Executive producers Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb released a joint statement thanking everyone who has ever worked on the show in front of and behind the camera. “The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible. We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared, and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the sendoff they deserve.”
Supernatural also stars Alexander Calvert with many fan favorites including Samantha Smith, Mark Pellegrino, Jim Beaver, Ruth Connell, Felicia Day, Kim Rhoades, Briana Buckmaster, and Amanda Tapping. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was a part of the first couple of seasons and recently returned to the series’ 300th episode. Ackles and Padalecki’s wives, Danneel Ackles and Genevieve Padalecki have also guest starred.
Fifteen years is a long run. We’ve lost friends, got them back and lost them again. Demons and monsters die every episode and sometimes they come back. Maybe Ackles is right. Nothing really ever ends in Supernatural.
Supernatural airs Thursdays nights on the CW.
