We have exciting news coming out of the Critical Role camp this morning. As part of their plan for global domination – we mean expanding their brand – their development and production company, Metapigeon, has acquired the sci-fantasy podcast series Midst. They will be working closely with the show’s founders, narrators and production studio Third Person to help expand the brand.
Midst is a semi-improvised audio drama by three unreliable, playfully omniscient and fully anonymous narrators. The story takes place on the islet of Midst in the space-western town of Stationary Hill. We follow three protagonists – the crotchety outlaw, the struggling cultist and the diabolical bastard – as they cross paths in unexpected ways. And these three eccentric individuals aren’t the only odd things in Stationary Hill. There is the influential civilization known as the Trust and the terrifying fact that the moon is about to fall out of the sky. And did we mention unsolved murders, cult brainwashing and supernatural darkness?

Midst already excels in its unique storytelling style and distinctive audio and will continue to thrive under their partnership with Metapidgeon. The first two seasons will be re-released under Critical Role and Metapidgeon. They will all include remastered audio and a new video version of each episode. They are also working to bring season three to life with plans to expand this epic world. Each episode will feature at least one piece of original art from notable artists Ricardo Bessa, Lenka Simeckova, Sam Bosma, Artem Chebokha, Lap Pun Cheung and many more.
We aren’t the only ones excited to see this partnership come to fruition. The minds behind Midst shared, “In lieu of the trumpet and explosion emojis that would be the truest expression of our feelings, we can say with full sincerity that we are over the moon to have found partners with such phenomenal passion and talent for creative multimedia storytelling. Critical Role and Metapigeon are enabling us to bring Midst to life in ways we never imagined possible, and we can’t wait to share what’s in store with fans both old and new.”
