Famed composer Alan Silvestri will team up with master filmmaker Steven Spielberg for the first time. Silvestri has signed on to score the film adaption of Ready Player One. Based on the sci-fi dystopian novel of the same name, author Ernest Cline has co-penned the script, helping bring his world to life. Now, Silvestri will help do the same.

Silvestri has worked with Spielberg’s production company on several films including Forrest Gump, Cast Away and more. However, this will their first time working together as a director and composer. Before you cry out about iconic John Williams not scoring, it appears that he helped select the composer to fill his usual place. In a statement released by Spielberg’s production company, Amblin Entertainment, they fully believe they’ve made the right choice.

Steven and John decided Alan Silvestri was the perfect choice for Ready Player One since Steven has worked (as a producer) with Alan on the ‘Back to the Future’ films in the ’80s and Alan has scored other films for Steven’s Amblin and DreamWorks.

And fans of Williams work won’t have to worry too long. According to Variety, Williams will be scoring The Papers for Spielberg instead. As for Silvestri, us here in the geek world know him pretty well. He’s scored MCU endeavors such as Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers and will be scoring the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. And of course, as mention in the quote, he composed the sci-fi trilogy, Back to the Future. Needless to say, I believe we’re in good hands.

Ready Player One releases in theaters on March 30th, 2018
