Get ready for your fun “what-the-what” news of the day. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Community creator and Rick and Morty co-creator, Dan Harmon, has been brought in to write some additional scenes for Doctor Strange. Yes, the man who created “Troy and Abed in the Morning” on Community, Mr. Meseeks on Rick and Morty and helped give the Russo Bros their careers through his notorious “Paintball” episode is now writing scenes for one of the more humorless characters in Marvel Comics.
That is, up until recently Doctor Strange was relatively humorless. Brian Michael Bendis and Jason Aaron have both added humor to the character in their runs, but for 30 plus years Doctor Strange was too grim to crack any jokes.
As THR reports, “Harmon was brought on board after the movie had wrapped initial production; his pages were “for additional photography,” according to one source.”
That is, they are doing some reshoots, which large blockbuster films almost always need, and he wrote some of those scenes.
We can only imagine that each of the Harmon scenes will feature a fart joke and some awkward sexual tension followed by some of the most touching, heartfelt character moments of the film.
The original writers on the script are the director Scott Derrickson and his co-writer C. Robert Cargill, who share a story-by credit with Jon Spaihts.
