Six seasons down, one movie to go! Newsweek reports that Dan Harmon gave an update regarding the state of the highly anticipated Community film. If the following news awakens something in you, I’ll allow it.

Harmon gave Newsweek the lowdown while promoting the sixth season of Rick and Morty, which premieres on September 4. We now have “concrete” proof that Abed’s “Six Seasons and a Movie” prophecy will be fulfilled. Here’s what Harmon had to say:

“I will now say it’s a matter of ‘when.’ I have been so careful about [saying] that,” he revealed. “The fan that Instagrams every day about Community, how can you tell them, ‘Yes, it’s definitely going to happen, but it may be between one and eight years from now’ — which is how the industry works, especially when you factor in pandemics and whatnot.”

Here’s the money line, folks. Proof positive this film is in the works:

“How about this for a concrete thing? There is an outline for it. There’s a product put together and pitched out in the world. I guess that’s how real it is.”

Harmon also spoke with The Wrap, confirming the legitimacy of Alison Brie‘s statements to the unWrapped podcast. “I’ll confirm what Alison said which is that legitimacy is here; conversations and agreements are happening. There’s a story — who knows if we’ll end up sticking to it, but it was something we had to compile in order to take it out and court various venues. And now negotiations happen,” he said.

If that doesn’t make you shout, “Pop Pop!” I don’t know what will. If you recall the Season 6 finale, “Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television,” a title card appears at the end reading, “…And a movie.” Naturally, this prompted Community fans to utilize the hashtag #SixSeasonsAndAMovie on social media.

The phrase originates from Season 2’s “Paradigms of Human Memory,” wherein Abed believes The Cape will garner six seasons and a movie despite Jeff’s belief it will only last three weeks.

Every cast member at the 2020 virtual table read of the Season 5 episode, “Cooperative Polygraphy,” has expressed interest in returning for a Community movie. They should involve Pedro Pascal since he voiced Walton Goggin‘s part in that table read. He can adorably crack up at every line.

It’s only a matter of time now! What are your theories for a Community movie? Sound off in the comments below!
