The next season of Cobra Kai will be here before you know it. And Netflix released the first look at the return of Karate Kid 2 love interest Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita) and talk of resurrecting the beloved Mr. Miyagi. Whoa! That would be awesome, but not possible…right?

Cobra Kai seasons one and two brought back an old rivalry between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). The two karate champs became the senseis to a new crop of karate enthusiasts, creating new rivalries. Things got a bit out of hand when the rivalry turned in to a teenage love quadrangle that left Johnny’s star student Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) in the hospital. Now that Miguel’s condition is uncertain, both Daniel and Johnny feel responsible.

In the first look at season three, Daniel reconnects with his former love Kumiko in Okinawa. He tells Kumiko about all of the trouble going on at home and that he’s just looking for answers. Daniel mentions that he is the same age Mr. Miyagi was when they first met. He feels Mr. Miyagi was wiser at their age than he ever could be. If only Mr. Miyagi could be there to guide Daniel. That’s when Kumiko says there maybe a way to bring the beloved sensei back and then the clip ends. Grrr.

Netflix released the first trailer for Cobra Kai a few days ago and this is going to be a good season. Look also for the return of Daniel’s Karate Kid 2 nemesis Chozen (Yuji Okumoto). There is so much drama to reconcile that there’s no way it can all be cleared up in one season. Good things we’re getting a season four.

Cobra Kai also stars Courtney Henggeler, Tanner BuchananMary MouserPeyton ListJacob BertrandGianni Decenzo and Martin Kove. Watch the clip below.

Cobra Kai returns to Netflix on January 8. 2021.
