Johnny can’t send the Cobra Kai Season 5 trailer to the internet today because he’s got a new job! Netflix unveiled the epic trailer for its mega-popular series, and it’s chock full of drama and — you guessed it — karate.
Here’s the synopsis for Season 5 per Netflix Media Center:
“Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Sensei Terry Silver is expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his ‘No Mercy’ style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.”

The trailer highlights how wily and serpent-like Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) is. He pulls the wool over everyone’s eyes, at least folks outside the inner karate circle. The masses view Silver as an empathetic philanthropist who takes these kids under his wing. Silver’s chameleon-esque abilities make him considerably more dangerous than John Kreese (Martin Kove).
Silver brings Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim) into the dojo, and it appears she might be more formidable than Silver himself. Meanwhile, Daniel (Ralph Macchio) adds Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) to his ranks to defeat Silver for good.

However, Johnny (William Zabka) seems to leave karate behind as he embarks on a new career path — a driver à la Uber or Lyft. Unfortunately, he scores a low star rating from one of his customers because his soccer mom van smells like beer. That’s because there is beer inside it.
Judging by the trailer, it looks like these departures from training students will be transient, as we’ll see Daniel, Johnny and Chozen team up to ensure their kids know how to do karate the right way.
