We’ve seen what they can do alone, so I wonder what Cloak & Dagger can do together. Last week, Tandy (Olivia Holt) met the only survivor of the rig explosion and used his daughter Mina (Ally Maki) to get close to him. Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) tried to get a job within the drug ring to get to Connors (J. D. Evermore). He didn’t get very far because the leader of the drug ring was killed by Det. O’Reilly (Emma Lahana).
In a flashback, Ivan Hess (Tim Kang) is getting ready for work. A young Mina Hess (Hannah Hardin) is baking cookies in an easy bake oven. She tells him to figure out the secret ingredient. Hess heads to work and finds out the shielding tiles he ordered for the rig are not coming. He yells to get Nathan Bowen (Andy Dylan) on the phone immediately. Alarms go off and the power shuts off. That’s when the explosion happened.
Back to present day, Tandy consoles Tyrone after he saw Duane (Dalon J. Holland) get shot. After he calms down, she tells him about Ivan Hess. She says she saw his hopes and there was a door that she couldn’t open. She needs Tyrone’s help opening that door. He agrees to help and they head to the hospital.
Read My Mind
Tandy figures if they touch Ivan at the same time, they can both enter his mind. They count to three and each touches an arm. They enter the same vision that Tandy saw and head for the door. Tyrone opens the door that leads to the rig. They walk through the rig and encounter a worker. Tandy doesn’t think he can see them, but the worker attacks them. Tandy stabs the rig worker and knocks him out.
They find Ivan Hess. He is happy to see them, but he doesn’t even know his name. He says they are halfway to the end of the world. Tyrone says they have to shut down the valves, but Ivan tells him there’s not enough time. The phone rings and Ivan picks it up, but he hangs up immediately. Tandy and Tyrone try to get to the valves and are attacked by more workers. The rig explodes and they are transported back to the beginning.
They get caught in this loop in Ivan’s mind. They find out that after the explosion, the mineral…that’s not oil…releases a gas that makes the workers turn on each other. Tandy and Tyrone tell him that he’s been trapped on that rig for eight years. Tandy mentions Mina’s name, but Ivan doesn’t remember. She says Nathan Bowen’s name and that triggers something. Nathan Bowen is the person who keeps calling. Tandy is shook.
The phone rings and Tandy answers. She starts to cry while talking to Nathan. She says something about missing him, but Nathan doesn’t know that he’s dead. Tandy talks to him like he’s still alive until the rig explodes, starting the loop all over again.
In the next loop, Tandy is in a trance. She is waiting for the phone to ring. Tyrone tells her they need to shut down the valves, but Tandy isn’t too worried about that. Tyrone sets out to fix it himself. As he walks through the rig, he encounters the workers. They surround him, but he teleports away from them. Meanwhile, Tandy answers her father’s phone call. They chat while Tyrone finds the valves and attempts to shut them off. The rig explodes and they reset again.
This time, Tyrone tells Tandy that he couldn’t shut off the valves. He tells her that they have to get back to the real world. She agrees and they countdown from three. Tyrone lets go, but Tandy is still hanging on. He tries to pull Ivan’s arm away from Tandy’s hand, but she’s holding on too tight. Tyrone goes back into the vision to stop her.
Tandy doesn’t quite remember Tyrone this time. He does everything he can to try and trigger her memory. He looks at the phone and Tandy gets uneasy, telling him not to touch it. She answers the phone, but Tyrone hangs it up for her. In her anger, Tandy says she remembers his name. She also remembers hating her life in the real world. She says she is homeless and has no friends. Tyrone tries to tell her that he’s her friend, but she says she was playing him and he fell for it.
Time resets. The phone rings and Tyrone answers it. He pulls the phone out of the wall and Tandy starts throwing daggers at him. Tyrone teleports around the room to get away from her. They fight until time resets again.
Go Big or Go Home
Tandy is very angry with Tyrone and tells him to leave. He says he will leave, but he needs Tandy to ask Nathan a question that only he would know. The phone rings and Tandy asks Nathan who’s in the back seat with him. He says no one is with him. Tandy realizes that it’s not really her dad on the other line.
Time resets again, but Tandy has snapped out of it this time. Ivan smells the cookie that Mina gave to him. Tandy takes the cookie and asks him who made it. He doesn’t remember. She tries to force him to think, but Ivan isn’t interested. When the phone rings, Tandy picks up the phone then slams it down. She tells him that his daughter, Mina made the cookie for him with a special ingredient. The special ingredient is cardamom. That triggers Ivan’s memory.
Time resets, but this time, Ivan is ready to shut down the valves. Tandy and Tyrone help fight off the workers that attack them as Ivan makes it to the valves and shuts everything down.
Back in the real world, Tandy and Tyrone let go of Ivan’s arms. He doesn’t know who they are and asks to see Mina. Mina rushes to the hospital and hugs her father tightly. Tyrone and Tandy watch the reunion.
At home, Tyrone pulls out an old shoebox of pictures. He finds a tape recorder. Tandy settles in at the church. She gets a phone call from Tyrone. He tells her about the recorder and says he needed to talk to someone who would understand. He plays the recording for her. It’s him and Billy making up raps. She laughs at him, saying he was terrible at beat boxing. She asks Tyrone to play the tape again. He rewinds it and presses play.
