Gotham has added yet another one of Batman’s villians to their rogue gallery — Basil Karlo. You may know him better as Clayface, the super strong, shape-shifting mud monster.
According to Comicbook.com, stage actor Brian McManamon will be taking on the role of the famous actor turned insane and spiteful villain.
He also tweeted out an image of himself standing with Ben McKenzie, who plays Detective Jim Gordon on the show.

With the series already proved that they aren’t afraid to pull from Batman: The Animated Series, like the story they created with Mr. Freeze and his wife, Nora, it seems likely that they may do the same thing here and have Karlo use some experimental beauty cream that turns him into the monster.
However, in his first appearance, Detective Comics #40 from 1940, we see him as an aging actor who’s villain character is replaced by a younger actor in a remake of his film. He takes on the persona of that film’s villain, Clayface, and goes on a killing spree of the film’s cast and crew.
It seems likely that they’ll use this version of the character and introduce elements of the monster to come, laying the ground work for the muddy shape shifter.
