New York Comic Con brings us our first full trailer for the upcoming Class, set in the universe of Doctor Who.
The new show features an ensemble cast from Coal Hill Academy, a reoccurring location in Doctor Who since the first season. The six main characters all have their own secrets and problems, pile onto that the stresses of time travel and you have the British Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The walls of space and time have worn thin, and darkness is coming to London. The trailer even references the Joss Whedon show going so far as to name it and call the spacial anomalies The Hellmouth. Of course they also mention other supernatural, teen dramas such as Vampire Diaries so there could be a few comparisons.
I’m not being glib regarding Buffy, even Steven Moffat has said Class is the British Buffy. This isn’t a bad thing, don’t mistake me. Although, based on the trailer, I would call it more of a Buffy/ Torchwood cross.
Peter Capaldi will appear in the first episode, to kick the whole adventure into high gear.
Class airs on BBC and BBCA in 2017.
