Clash of Clans
Developed in 2012 by Supercell, Clash of Clans is a free-to-play base-building strategy game that makes the player chief of their very own fantasy village. Players can bolster their bases, gather resources, join a clan and even attack other players. Don’t feel bad, though; someone is probably attacking my base as I write this. It’s all part of the game, baby!

Players build and upgrade various types of structures; some provide resources while others defend against enemy attacks. You will need elixir and gold to upgrade everything; luckily, there are buildings for that. Load up your base with canons, towers, or traps and make your enemies wish they had never attacked you. Make sure to protect your base so other players can’t plunder your resources.
Heroes protect the player’s base as well as attack enemy bases. There are four types of heroes, including the Archer Queen, the Barbarian King, the Grand Warden and the Royal Champion. Each hero has their own strengths and weaknesses along with special abilities. It is up to you to find the best way to use them and gain the most trophies. These trophies determine your ranking amongst all Clash of Clans players. Feeling brave? Gather your heroes and attack another player’s base to grab their booty.

Once you have built up your base and gathered your heroes, you are ready to join a clan (if you want). Up to 50 players can group to take on rival clans in a game mode called Clan Wars. Whether gaming solo is your thing or joining a clan is more your style, the game plays well either way.
Monthly and Seasonal Events
Clash of Clans has monthly and seasonal events and Halloween is no exception. There are creepy hero and map skins available for purchase in the shop. A free playable map called “Absolutely Fa-boo-lous” allows players to try some of the new spooky content for free.

A clickable arcade appears on the player’s map every year on the Clash of Clans anniversary. One year, the players were treated to a version of Clash of Clans styled like an N64 racing game. Another was more reminiscent of a 1980s arcade platformer.

Clash of Clans has been around for more than a decade for a reason. The charming art style, smooth interface and gameplay make this a game worth investing time into. The various game modes keep it interesting and attract all types of gamers. While there is an in-game store, enjoying this game without spending serious cash is entirely possible. If you like strategy or base-building type games, definitely give this game a try. Since it is free to play, you have nothing to lose and only riches to gain.
