Prime Video has its next big project on deck, spearheaded by Marvel giants Joe Russo and Anthony Russo. Meet Citadel, a unique television event that’s the first of its kind. It’s a spy thriller that aims to tell a global story by implementing a flagship series and several local language series. All will weave together narratively.

On Monday, Prime Video unveiled the official trailer for the ambitious six-episode series, which stars Richard Madden as Mason Kane and Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Nadia Sinh.

Here’s the synopsis for Citadel per Amazon Studios

“Eight years ago, Citadel fell. The independent global spy agency—tasked to uphold the safety and security of all people—was destroyed by operatives of Manticore, a powerful syndicate manipulating the world from the shadows. With Citadel’s fall, elite agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh had their memories wiped as they narrowly escaped with their lives.

They’ve remained hidden ever since, building new lives under new identities, unaware of their pasts. Until one night, when Mason is tracked down by his former Citadel colleague, Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), who desperately needs his help to prevent Manticore from establishing a new world order. Mason seeks out his former partner, Nadia, and the two spies embark on a mission that takes them around the world in an effort to stop Manticore, all while contending with a relationship built on secrets, lies, and a dangerous-yet-undying love.”

Besides Madden, Chopra Jonas and Tucci, Citadel stars Lesley Manville as Dahlia Archer, Osy Ikhile as Carter Spence, Ashleigh Cummings as Abby Conroy, Roland Møller as Anders Silje and Davik Silje, Caoilinn Springall as Hendrix Conroy and more. David Weil serves as showrunner and executive producer.

The trailer is an action-packed spectacle, boasting the Russo brothers’ penchant for mixing humor and adventure with immersive visuals. The premise is intriguing, and coupling that with the trailer piqued my interest. I’m curious to see where this journey takes us.

You can check out the official trailer below. Citadel premieres its first two episodes on Prime Video on Friday, April 28, 2023, with new episodes dropping weekly.
