Back in 2016, Anne Rice announced that she finally had the rights to her beloved The Vampire Chronicles. She went on to report that she and her son, author Christopher Rice were working on a television series.

Those that follow her on social media, have been treated to updates, since then. In July of 2017, she took to her Facebook page, asking fans to weigh in on possible actors for the pivotal role of Lestat. She stated that they would be looking for unknowns or up-and-comers. Back in January, Rice herself reported that American Gods and Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller, had signed on to the project. Paramount TV is officially developing the series and has purchased the rights to the first 11 books. Anne and Christopher are on board as executive producers.

The most exciting teaser of all, hit social media last week. Rice posted a screenshot of a script to the Vampire Chronicles Facebook page. Episode one of the currently named show The Vampire Lestat is titled “Wolf Killer”. Christopher Rice is listed at the writer. Anne included this quote with the pic.

“Very few beings really seek knowledge in this world.
Mortal or immortal, few really ask. On the contrary, they
try to wring from the unknown the answers they have already
shaped in their own minds—justifications, confirmations, forms
of consolation without which they can’t go on. To really ask
is to open the door to the whirlwind. The answer may annihilate the
question and the questioner.”

In response to a comment on the post, Rice did say that they were still a long way off from any kind of production. Those of us who have been anticipating the brat prince and his vampire family will just have to wait a little longer.
