Chris Evans is the lastest star in talks to join Greg Berlanti‘s production of Little Shop of Horrors. Evans will play dentist, Orin Scrivello in the big screen adaptation. Marc Platt, Sarah Schechter and Berlanti are producing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros has already signed Billy Porter to the project. Porter will voice the part of Audrey II, a carniverous plant. The studio is courting Taron Egerton to portray Seymour Krelborn and Scarlett Johansson to play Audrey, the film leads. Orin Scrivello is Audrey creepy dentist boyfriend.
Fun Fact: Did you know that Evans’ father was a dentist?
Little Shop of Horrors is the story of a meek flower shop employee, Seymour who discovers an exotic plant that looks like a venus fly-trap. The plant starts talking to Seymour, making him famous around town. There’s just one problem. The plant needs human blood to grow.
Little Shop of Horrors is based on a 1960 film by Roger Corman. It was adapted into a musical in the early 80s. The story was adapated from the musical version by Frank Oz and starred Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene. Steve Martin played the dentist in that version.
Evans is such a versitle actor. He would be amazing in this role. It kind of reminds me of the character Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Something tells me he would be hilarious in this film.
Production on Little Shop of Horrors is scheduled to start in Summer 2020.
