As we settle into the long wait for the final season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, breakout star Chloe Bennet recently revealed some exciting details about what to expect in the show’s seventh and unfortunately last run, airing next summer.
The Daisy Johnson/Quake actress disclosed that there will be more time-travelling shenanigans, which is to be expected from the Season 7 teaser, released after an exclusive screening of the premiere episode at the Disney convention, D23.
Such new footage, along with the ending scene of the Season 6 finale, showed our team in 1930’s New York, however multiple clues across social media have also hinted that the team will be exploring other eras.
“I can say we are back in time, so we have to get… the whole goal is to get back to where we were…So that means travelling through a bunch of different time periods and who knows who we see on the way back, if we even get back.” Bennet told Digital Spy.
Bennet also hinted that there may be some returning faces throughout the season too. With next season being written with the foreknowledge that it was the show’s last, this has given the showrunners the opportunity to celebrate and say goodbye to certain characters. “For the long-term fans, it’s a really big pay-up and it’s really, really fun…” she adds.
Perhaps on a slightly more worrying note, Bennet states that the conclusions presented in the final season may not please everyone. Mentioning the highly controversial end to Game of Thrones, she acknowledges the challenge of being able to please every type of fan.
“With the end of every series, I mean you look at Game of Thrones – if you have a fanbase that cares about the characters, they’re going to have a possessiveness over how you want it to end, obviously. “, later adding, “I don’t think we’re going to make everyone happy, but they [the writers] definitely do a really good job.”
Here’s hoping that the final season can at least satisfy the majority of the audience, as we spend the next few months speculating the conclusion to this seven-year long adventure.
