Guess who’s back? The Hollywood Reporter reveals the rumors are true: Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will reunite for Marvel’s upcoming live-action outing Echo opposite series lead Alaqua Cox! This reunion will mark the first time the hero and villain duo share the screen since Netflix’s Daredevil bowed out in 2018.
While the move is exciting, it’s not unexpected given Cox and D’Onofrio’s respective re-introductions into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. D’Onofrio recently reprised his role as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the holiday-themed Disney Plus series Hawkeye alongside Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld. Cox made a brief cameo as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, serving as Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) lawyer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources claim Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil will seek out a former ally on Echo. The podcast The Weekly Planet reports said ally is none other than Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter on the three-season Netflix series Jessica Jones. Currently, Marvel remains silent, so there’s no concrete verification of this rumor.
Marvel’s live-action Netflix shows, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher, now have a home on Disney Plus in the months since the rights for the characters reverted to Marvel. Once considered “not canon” in the MCU, it now seems like Marvel wants to give these characters a soft reboot, and we have that proof with Cox and D’Onofrio’s appearances.

Echo centers on Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez, first introduced in Hawkeye as the adoptive daughter of Wilson Fisk, who was responsible for the murder of her father, William Lopez (Zahn McClarnon). Lopez returns to her hometown after shooting Fisk in the season finale of Hawkeye, and her life as a gang leader catches up with her while she tries to reconnect with her Indigenous roots.
McClarnon will reprise his role on Echo alongside the addition of Reservation Dogs co-star Devery Jacobs. Other cast members include Chaske Spencer, Cody Lightning, Graham Greene and Tantoo Cardinal.
Echo will premiere on Disney Plus sometime in 2023.
