Cats Hidden in Paris (two happy line art cats)

Welcome to this week’s installment of F2P Friday, where we highlight our favorite Free-2-Play games. The video game market is oversaturated, and sometimes, hidden gems fall through the cracks. This is where we do the digging for you and feature a new F2P game every week that we know you will enjoy. Let’s dive in!

Cats Hidden in Paris

There are 100 cats hidden in a hand-drawn, adorable black-and-white sketch of Paris, France by developer Travellin Cats.

The Basics

Let’s get down to the basics. Cats Hidden in Paris is a relaxing hidden objects game that has you hunting felines through a two-dimensional city. It reminds me a lot of 100 Hidden Frogs, in the play style and time needed to complete the puzzle. The cats will turn blue as you click to uncover them and each achievement will pop up with the name of the found feline.

While the game is simple to understand and master, there are a few tips to keep in mind when starting. First, is that the whole map won’t fit on your screen so you will need to scroll down. I figured this out by accident and was happily surprised to see more of the illustration.

The next tip is that you can zoom in. I strained my eyes trying to peep all the kitties hiding around the city for nothing before I found this out. My computer monitor is a touch screen so I just pinched the screen to zoom in, but if you are using a mouse I would try the trackball.

Why Should I Play?

So why should you play Cats Hidden in Paris? I’d suggest this game to literally everyone. The concept is simple enough that inexperienced or young players are able to finish it on their own. My five-year-old was delighted to play with me. She loved listening to the cats meow as we found them.

The music composition was also a big plus for me. It matches the tone of the game and although it is a loop, I never found it too tedious to listen to. The artwork also drew me in. I loved the variety of body styles, material composition and positions the cats are drawn in.
