According to a report out of Variety, Cate Blanchett may very well be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Thor: Ragnarok. There’s no word on what character she’d take on, only that she’s “in talks to play one of the new female leads.”

Rumors have circulated that Marvel is looking to bring in some powerful female characters such as the heroic Valkyries, or THE Valkyrie, as well as the villainous Enchantress. It’s a tough call as to which character Blanchett would play better as she’d honestly be perfect for either one of those roles. Of course, it’s also entirely possible they’re talking to her about a completely different role — it’s just that those are the ones being rumored currently.

Valkyrie’s real name is Brunnhilde and she was the leader of the Valkyries, a team of warrior women who determined whether mortals killed in battle were worthy of Valhala.

Enchantress’s real name is Amora and she is one of the more powerful mystics and sorcerers in the Marvel Universe, rivaling even Doctor Strange with her mystic powers.
