After last year’s highly anticipated and well-received debut of the animated Castlevania series on Netflix, not much was said about Season 2 after it was renewed. Months and months have gone by, and while many people have speculated that Season 2 would come out this year, we hadn’t received any information from Netflix, Executive Producer Adi Shankar or writer Warren Ellis.

Until today, that is.

Warning: minor spoiler ahead if you haven’t watched Season 1.

Ellis states, “FAQ: people keep asking, so I guess word didn’t get around? We’re coming back this summer, for eight epsiodes, from @Netflix.”

Now that we have confirmation that Castlevania Season 2 is returning this summer with eight new episodes, the only question left is “when?” July is most likely as that is when Season 1 premiered and Netflix likes to be consistent with its scheduling. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later as I am eager to see what happens to our newly formed band of outsiders. More importantly, I cannot wait to hear more incredible voice acting from the talented cast of Richard Armitage (Trevor Belmont), James Callis (Alucard), and Alejandra Reynoso (Sypha Belnades). While I’m still grieving the loss of Matt Frewer’s fanatical Bishop I’m sure Ellis has another memorable villain in stored for us (outside of Dracula, of course).

If you are not caught up on the series, now is the best time to get in on this incredible adaption of the beloved game franchise. Season 1 is only four episodes long, but I think you’ll agree that these episodes are superb. You can also read our Castlevania Season 1 recaps to get you ready for the new season.
