Carrie tells the story of the titular teenager. She lives a sheltered life, thanks to her abusive mother. This leads to excessive bullying from the other kids at school. But things take a turn for the supernatural when Carrie begins developing dangerous telekinetic powers just before the prom.
As previously mentioned, Flanagan is no stranger to King adaptations. In addition to Carrie, he’s currently working on an adaptation of the eight-volume Dark Tower series for Prime Video. Previously, he directed adaptations of King’s novels Gerald’s Game (2017) and Doctor Sleep (2019). In addition, the upcoming The Life of Chuck, based on a novella by King, will be widely released in theaters in June 2025.
