This photo here, showing this dapper gentleman in a Jedi robe, is what we would call in Australia, (my neck of the woods), an “absolute legend”. Jason Thomas recognised something seriously lacking near Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and that is this: Carrie Fisher has no star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In the outpouring of grief that has bound her fans around the globe, he decided to do something about it.
If you’re in LA, go to the corner of Hollywood and Orange. That’s where you’ll find the Star that he has made for Carrie. Thomas said on Instagram “Our princess didn’t have a star, so I gave her one… now she lives amongst them”.
It has become a place for fans to gather and mourn, consoling each other through this difficult time. Tributes have been lain, and it’s even caught the attention of Mark Hamill himself.

Jason – if we ever get to meet, I’m buying you a beer.
The unfortunate thing is that the star is unlikely to stay like this permanently. There’s processes undertaken when a person is nominated, and for posthumous nominations they’re only considered after a 5 year waiting period… and then there’s only one given per year.
Either way – if you’re in LA, go see it. It might be the only star she ever gets, and although there’s a degree of fame and fuss she never really liked, we can hope that she appreciates the outpouring of love this tribute is sending her way.
