Fresh off the final episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel announced a continuation of the franchise. Captain America 4 is coming our way!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Malcolm Spellman, the head writer and creator of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will write the script along with staff writer Dalan Musson. Until recently, only Chris Evans portrayed Captain America in the Avengers films. There’s no word whether Evans will reprise the role in the future. In addition, we don’t have a director for Captain America 4 or any casting news yet, but things look promising considering where the show ended.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier starred Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, current wielder of the red, white and blue shield. Also featuring Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/the titular Winter Soldier, the series garnered a ton of praise from critics and fans alike. It premiered March 19 on Disney Plus with the streaming service’s biggest series debut audience ever. Falcon centered on the question of who had the right to carry the shield and take on the title of Captain America.

It’ll be interesting to see how Sam’s story moves back to the big screen, as the series’s nearly all-Black writers room brought the Black experience to the forefront in an unprecedented way for the Marvel franchise. The show also hinted at other people of color who become heroes in the comics. This includes Eli Bradley/Patriot (Isaiah Bradley’s grandson) and Joaquin Torres, who actually takes up the Falcon mantle!
