The Jean-Luc Picard series is starting to take shape! Thanks to Variety we learned that the upcoming Star Trek spin-off series coming to CBS All Access has gained cast members. Two series regulars in fact. Welcome to Trek-verse, Santiago Cabrera and Michelle Hurd!
Unfortunately, their roles are completely under wraps. We have no idea what sort of role they will have in the story. However, if we were to take an educated guess, we’d say that they are playing beings close to Sir Patrick Stewart‘s Jean-Luc Picard. They wouldn’t announce a villain casting first, would they? Though the more interesting aspect to think about is, are they part of his new Starship crew?

All we know about the series so far is that Picard will be in a new chapter in his life. According to creative director of the Star Trek universe on CBS All Access, Alex Kurtzman, Picard will be dealing with a “traumatic and life-changing calamity”. Namely the fall of the Romulan empire depicted in the JJ Abrams‘ Star Trek film. So Prime and Kelvin will be mixing and Jean-Luc is seemingly at the center of it all. It’s unclear what sort of action he’ll take, whether that’s taking the helm of another Starship or working in dipolmacy. We’ll have to wait and see how this story unfolds.
What do you think of the casting? How excited are you for the upcoming series? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Star Trek news.
