Polin and Bridgerton fans can take a moment to celebrate today as we finally have an official announcement from Netflix as to when season three will be here. The adaptation of Julia Quinn‘s series is taking a bit of a different direction as the third season won’t be focusing on Benedict (Luke Thompson) as the third book does, but instead on Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan).
Bridgerton’s third season will hit the streaming service in two parts, similar to other Netflix series. Part 1 will debut in May, followed by Part 2 in June. Each will feature four episodes, bringing the total count to eight. While the focus of season two was Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley), Colin and Penelope had quite a lot of build-up, so we aren’t surprised that season three will focus on them.

Colin had a lot to say about Penelope at the end of last season – none of which were good. Silly Colin. To make matters worse, Penelope overheard everything. Now, she is ready to give up on her longtime crush and deal with more important issues in front of her. Like how longtime best friend and Bridgerton sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie) is dealing with the news that she is Lady Whistledown.
But Penelope plans to marry someone who will let her continue her dealings as London’s most prominent scandal writer. However, things don’t go well for the forever wallflower. Then returns Colin, who is upset that Penelope is giving him the cold shoulder. He decides the best way back into her good graces is to help her manage the marriage mart. But what happens when his advice is too good, and Penelope starts gaining the attention of a gentleman other than himself?

We can’t wait to see how Shondaland shakes up the story found within Romancing Mr. Bridgerton to give us a new look at the love story between Colin and Penelope. We also can’t wait to see if this season will finally set up Benedict’s love story or if they will continue down their path and jump into another sibling’s romance.
