It is always a good day when Netflix and Shonda Rhimes drop more Bridgerton content. And while it isn’t the trailer I was hoping we would be getting, it is quite a few more first look images to get us excited for season 2. The series is based on the historical romance novel series of the same name by Julia Quinn. Season 1 focused heavily on Daphne (Pheobe Dynevor) and the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page) romance which comes from the novel The Duke and I. Season two is set to follow the events of The Viscount Who Loved Me, where Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) searches for his happily ever after or at least a decent wife.
Anthony is set on upholding his family name in season two of Bridgerton. We know how hard he is working to ensure that the Bridgerton family continues forward after his father’s untimely death. So to keep his perfect world moving forward, he needs the perfect viscountess. Not just anyone will do and he is judging everyone against a list of impossible characteristics. When he starts courting Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), things seem to be going well.

That is until her sister Kate (Simone Ashley) realizes that a true love match isn’t high on Anthony’s priority list and steps in to put a stop to this farce. This leads to some pretty intense verbal sparring (some of my favorite banters in romance novels) and only manages to bring the pair closer and complicates Anthony’s search for the perfect viscountess even harder. But that isn’t the only story being told in season 2. At the end of season 1 of Bridgerton, we saw the death of Penelope’s (Nicola Coughlan) father and we still haven’t learned who is taking over.
We are so excited to see Bridgerton return not just for Anthony and Kate’s battle of the wits but also for all the additional plotlines introduced in season 1. I also hope that we are going to get more glimpses at Benedict’s (Luke Thompson) story, as his romance should be front and center in season 3. And of course, would it be Bridgerton without some Colin (Luke Newton) and Eloise (Claudia Jessie)?
Bridgerton returns to Netflix for season 2 on March 25, 2022. Check out the brand new images below! Catch up on season 1 before we have to binge through season 2 here! What additional side stories do you want to see in season two? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
