EW took a page out of Lady Whistledown’s book and dropped some saucy gossip for us today regarding Netflix and Shonda Rhimes‘ second season of Bridgerton. Based on the novels by Julia Quinn, this season will pull from the pages of The Viscount Who Loved Me and focus heavily on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his quest to find the perfect viscountess. But, of course, things aren’t going to be easy! In EW’s interview with creator Chris Van Dusen, we get a closer glimpse at what drama we will see.

We know that this season of Bridgerton introduces the Sharma sisters, Kate (Simone Ashley) and Edwina (Charithra Chandran), who will both catch the eye of Anthony. But it is Edwina who he wants as his ideal match. But Kate isn’t ready to just hand her sister off anyone. In the interview, Bailey teases, “You can understand why he’s drawn to both. And they’re both drawn to him in turn. It’s an interesting love triangle; it’s dangerous when it’s siblings. It’s bestial between them in a way season 1 wasn’t. They’re all animals with each other.”

But it isn’t just Anthony’s love life we will get the chance to experience in season two. EW’s article shares that we will get a more intimate look at Anthony as a whole. At the end of season one, we watched as Siena (Sabrina Bartlett) broke his heart which led to the idea that he wouldn’t marry for love. No, he is going to marry the ideal wife and be done with it. But we also know that he has been struggling to fill his father’s shoes and I am sure we will see more of that as season two plays out. It’s a lot to take on the entire family and is Anthony really up for the challenge?

But love triangles and deconstructing the patriarchy aren’t the only thing we have to look forward to this season! One of my big questions from season one was how Eloise (Claudia Jessie) would take finding out that her best friend Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) was Lady Whistledown. After nearly walking away from each other over a difference in opinion, this could tear them apart. Van Dusen hinted in his interview that this season is going to be about head versus heart and that we are going to see Penelope struggling with her need to be with Colin (Luke Newton) and this Lady Whistledown situation.

Well, our dearest readers (I’ve always wanted to say that), we have a lot to look forward to when season two of Bridgerton hits Netflix on March 25, 2022. We suggest checking out the whole interview for more tidbits on what we can expect to find! They also shared a new image of Anthony and Kate that we dropped below for your enjoyment. What are your thoughts so far on season two? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
