Netflix dropped some pretty important news yesterday for Bridgerton! They took to Twitter to share that Rupert Evans would be joining the cast for this upcoming season in the role of Edmund Bridgerton. That’s right, Rupert is taking on the role of our favorite siblings’ dad. And if I might say, he and a few members of the cast are almost the spitting images of each other.

I expect that we will be seeing him in flashbacks throughout the season. Being the oldest, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) had the most time with his father, and his life was drastically changed when he passed. So it will be exciting to see moments from his childhood that will help explain how he feels and is acting in the present day. But this isn’t the only series Rupert might be joining.
They haven’t announced anything yet, but Rupert might also appear in the Bridgerton spin-off series as well. The most we know is that it will focus on the younger days of Queen Charlotte, portrayed by Golda Rosheuvel in the current series. They have also mentioned that we will see a younger Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) and Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh), who will most likely have younger actresses take over the role.
It would be fitting to have Rupert reprise his role since those flashbacks might actually occur around the same time the spin-off series does. We might even catch a glimpse of the actress who will be portraying the younger Violet. I am so excited to see their love story play out, even though we know of his eventual passing. I think Rupert will be great in his role and can’t wait for season two to get here finally!
