On the heels of season two of Netflix and Shondaland’s Bridgerton, we have more news from the official Twitter for the series! They dropped some exciting casting news and plot news surrounding the prequel series that is set to take place years before the current events of the series.

The announcement shared that the Bridgerton prequel will focus on the rise of Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) and feature Lady Violet (Ruth Gemmell) and Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh). They also shared that India Amarteifio will be joining as a young Queen Charlotte and Arsema Thomas will be portraying a young Lady Danbury. They also shared that Corey Mylchreest will be joining the series as a young King George.

The idea that we will get a young and older version of the characters leads us to believe that the Bridgerton prequel series will feature flashforwards or flashbacks. Personally, we would love to see how Charlotte looks back at certain events from her past as she deals with her present issues. Shondaland and Netflix have done a terrific job of diversifying Julia Quinn‘s world and expanding past the stories found within her novels.

This includes the introduction to Queen Charlotte and her role within society which is never explored within the book. It was nearly impossible not to fall in love with the Queen and her battle against Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews). The Bridgerton prequel series will give us a closer look at events that have shaped Charlotte and her own romance with her husband.

We are excited to see who else we are going to be able to spot within the Bridgerton prequel. Maybe a younger Lady Portia (Polly Walker), Lady Mary (Shelley Conn) or other members of society? Plus, how can we not be ecstatic to see more of our Queen and Lady Danbury? We hope that we will get more information regarding the prequel and season three over the next few months. In the meantime, we highly suggest rewatching season one and season two.
