Welcome to the Marriage Mart, Mr. Bridgerton
Benedict fans, your time is now. Netflix has revealed that Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict, the fan favorite “bohemian second son,” will take over as lead for Bridgerton Season 4. The mega-popular, steamy Regency romance will adapt Benedict’s love story with Sophie Beckett. As of writing, we don’t know who will play Sophie, aka Benedict’s “Lady in Silver.”
An Offer from a Gentleman by Julia Quinn, which spotlights Benedict, is the third book in the Bridgerton series. The most recent season focused on Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), whose story is plucked from the pages of Quinn’s fourth novel, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.

Masquerade
As is tradition with this series, the season finales plant clues about who will shoulder the leading love story mantle next. The Season 3 finale, “Into the Light,” saw Benedict finding freedom and not wanting to be tied down yet. Of course, the most significant indication that Benedict would lead Season 4 was Eloise’s (Claudia Jessie) remark about Violet’s (Ruth Gemmell) upcoming masquerade ball. In the book, Benedict meets his Lady in Silver at a masquerade ball.
What’s to Come
Executive producer Shonda Rhimes had this to say about Benedict:
“He’s a charming man who’s trying to find his way. He’s very delightful and funny. I’m excited for everybody to watch him.”
Showrunner Jess Brownell teased his highly anticipated season:
“It felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down. He is someone who has big appetites, and we wanted to see him living a big life before he goes into settle-down mode. … I’m excited for where we’re going with him in Season 4. There are a lot of things I want to say about it, but I should probably wait…”

I’m excited to watch Luke Thompson finally have his moment. He boasts an overabundance of charm and will undoubtedly make us swoon when Season 4 debuts.
Bridgerton Seasons 1 through 3 are streaming on Netflix. We don’t have a premiere date for the eight-episode fourth season, but if it follows the trend of previous installments, we might not see anything until 2026.
