Brent Spiner Joins SUPERGIRL in Presidential Role

Erin Lynch

We have some more fantastic casting news from team Supergirl. Announced today by Deadline, actor Brent Spiner will join the cast in a reoccurring role. When fandoms collide, right?! His role marks an interesting note, given what’s happened so far on the show. Spoilers ahead for those who haven’t seen season 2!

Spiner has been cast as the Vice President of the United States in the show. And apparently he’ll be playing an important role as the country will need him. “Adept and politically minded, VP Baker makes for an unlikely leader, but steps up in a big way when his country needs him most.” An interesting way of putting it. Does that mean that Olivia Marsdin (played by Lynda Carter) won’t be the President anymore? Is Baker going to be a Durlan too? I have so many questions!

I do really enjoy when shows make nods to those who have come before them. Like with casting Carter in-part because of her stint on the Wonder Woman TV series. So Wonder Woman and Data are running the country on Earth Thirty Eight. How interesting! Kidding aside, I’m looking forward to seeing what they’re doing with his character. If I could take some super leaps, I would like to image that he’ll be a bright man but putting politics before anything. Though maybe that will change over the course of the show. The fourth season is really gearing up to be a great one with these new character additions!

Are you excited to see Brent Spiner join the cast? How badly do you want a musical episode with him in it? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more super-filled news. Supergirl returns this fall on Sunday nights starting October 14, 2018.
