With the first wave of alpha access releasing today for the upcoming World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, things seemed to be going in a great direction. That was until Blizzard dropped a bomb on the community in the form of a note on their BlizzCon News site. They shared that while they are currently monitoring the current COVID-19 pandemic it is still too early to decide whether BlizzCon 2020 will be feasible. It will be a few months of monitoring before they will feel comfortable making the official call.
Prior to the most recent events, Blizzard has already been working on finalizing plans and will still continue to do so. This also includes looking into different scenarios that could take place. The health of Blizzard’s community, employees, and everyone who helps bring the event together is their top priority in the end. Blizzard also understands that fans will need time to prepare for the event and will continue to share news as it comes out.
BlizzCon 2020 is not the first event to announce possible delays or cancelations in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Back in the beginning of March WonderCon announced their delay and E3 announced their cancelation until next year. Check back in with us for more upcoming news on event delays and cancelations.
