Student gamers all across Canada and the United States have been waiting a whole year for this announcement. Heroes of the Dorm, Blizzard Entertainment’s collegiate Heroes of the Storm championship, has returned and registration is now open until February 5th.

This will be the fourth year of Heroes of the Dorm and this year they are introducing regional play. There will be more than $500,000 in scholarships and prizes awarded in the competition. Regional winners will join top leaderboard teams in the 64-team National Championship bracket. These 64 teams will vie for a chance to win scholarships that will pay their tuition for the remainder of their college years (along with other prizes).  Past winners include UT Arlington (2017), Arizona State University (2016), and Cal Berkeley (2015).

All games will be streamed on the Heroes of the Storm Twitch channel as well as the Major League Gaming (MLG) website. Blizzard also has a partnership with Raycom Sports, in which the network will produce a one-hour Heroes of the Dorm program featuring the schools in the Atlantic Coast Region. This program will be broadcast across the United States on any one of Raycom Sports affiliate channels.

“With intense student competition and an epic tournament bracket featuring schools across the United States and Canada, Heroes of the Dorm showcases the kind of excitement that can only come from college esports,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment said in a press release. “We look forward to cheering on all of the talented players who will be competing in Heroes of the Storm, as well as Hearthstone and StarCraft II, for their share of Tespa’s biggest scholarship prize pool ever.”
