The long wait is over! Blizzard Entertainment has announced the return of Heroes of the Dorm. This Heroes of the Storm tournament pits college team against college team for epic prizes totaling $500,000 including paid college tuition for all 5 members of the championship winning team.
In case you missed last year’s tournament, Arizona State University’s Real Dream Team took home the championship trophy after sweeping UT Arlington in a best-of-5 series. In the 2015 Heroes of the Dorm championship game, Cal-UC Berkeley took home the prize. Both championship games and Heroic Four matches, were televised on ESPN 2.
This year will be a little different. Blizzard has dropped their partnership with ESPN, opting to go with Facebook Live instead. This means all matches will be streamed exclusively through Facebook Live; there will be no Twitch or YouTube live feeds.
Only eligible American and Canadian college students (full-time, four-year colleges) can register for the Heroes of the Dorm, so if you have some friends who want to get in on the Heroes of the Storm action, registration is now open and will end on February 11, 2017.
Can Arizona State stage a repeat or will there be new Heroes of the Dorm? We will see in just a few short months.
