Mysterious man walking in Blade Runner: Black Lotus opening sequence.

During the Crunchyroll Expo, Adult Swim and Crunchyroll dropped opening and some key art for the highly anticipated animated series Blade Runner: Black Lotus. The series takes place between the events of Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. It follows Elle (Jessica Henwick/Arisa Shida) as she tries to seek revenge on those who wronged her and uncover the mysteries of her past.

The recent trailer that dropped during SDCC 2021 may have drawn my eyes, but these images and opening sequence have definitely won my heart. Elle is shaping up to be a badass lead and memorable character within the Blade Runner franchise and we haven’t even seen the first episode. The Blade Runner: Black Lotus opening sequence gives us enough of a look to get us in the mood. Simply, it’s gritty and I need it.

The series is set to launch on Crunchyroll in Japanese with English subtitles and Adult Swim in English. I’m hopeful that Blade Runner: Black Lotus does well in this medium. While I love the movies, I feel like they can really expand the universe through animated series as well. Plus, can we talk about the new poster art! It’s hard not to see Carlos (Resident Evil 3 Remake) on the poster, but oddly I’m okay with it. But it really helps give the feel of the Blade Runner universe.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus is set to hit screens this fall. Check out the opening below, along with the new poster art. How excited are you for this new addition to the franchise? Is it on the top of your must-watch list? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
