It looks like Marvel’s Black Panther went to school in America for a time.

According to the East Bay Times, Marvel will be using a very specific Oakland bus design from the 90’s. Director Ryan Coogler is from the bay area and wants to pay particular homage to it. As they say, in one scene we see T’challa in a “flashback to 1990, while he was a student at Saint Mary’s College High School in Berkeley. And of course, he’s a daily AC Transit commuter.”

And this is why they want that shot of that very specific bus.

It looks as if Prince T’Challa of Wakanda, who grows up to be the Black Panther following his father’s death, goes to school in America as a teen and we’ll get flashbacks to this. If we’re getting flashbacks to this time then it’s safe to assume that some important events unfold here.

Our guess is that he meets the villain, Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) while he’s in school, who’s been exiled from Wakanda by King T’Chaka, T’Challa’s father. At the very least, maybe we’ll get to see a 10-year-old T’Challa rocking some Hammer pants.
